Where's Yours?

The photo below which I saw from a friend's Facebook wall,  inspired me to write this blog entry.

Getting a tattoo, body art, ink (however you call it) is getting fashionable these days. Different people have different reasons for getting one, the permanent kind. It may signify an important phase in their life, say a death of a love one, a new found love, a birthday and the list goes on. And then, there are those who gets inked because it is a popular fashion accessory. I see people from different walks of life sporting a tattoo. Not only is it seen on prisoners or gang members or artists. Some students, doctors, teachers, lawyers have them as well.

If only the process of tattoing is not that painful, I'd definitely get one. In fact, I already have a design in mind. But for someone who is afraid of needles/ getting injections, having a henna tattoo will suffice the need... It's not painful unlike the typical tattoo in which needles have to be punched through the skin. And since it's temporary, if ever I get tired of the design, I'll  just wait for two weeks or so, the tattoo will be completely erased from my skin.

Speaking of henna. I have two "body art" right now. I got it when I was in Boracay three days ago. One is located at my nape and the other at my right ankle.

Dinner at The Chocolate Kiss

It's been a while since the three of us (Mira, Shai and I)  had dinner together.
We decided to dine at The Chocolate Kiss Cafe which is located at the 2nd floor of the Bahay ng Alumni in UP Diliman. (They also have a branch in Tomas Morato). The restaurant is known for it's tasty pastries but they also serve pastas, filipino breakfasts, soups, sandwiches and others. If you want fine dining without the exorbitant prices, this is the place to go to.

The staff is friendly and accommodating. Proof is we were able to ask one of them to take pictures of us. They are also patient in waiting for orders. It took us almost 30minutes to decide on what to eat. Us girls, fickle minded, like that.

Shai and I had pasta. Mine is red pesto while hers is pesto penne. Mira had hickory smoked spareribs. We also ordered buffalo wings to share. Originally, we planned to order three different slices of cake  for dessert but they had big servings and we were so full after the meal. Good thing they have what they call the Chocolate Kiss Suite which is a cake sampler (small square slices as seen above - kahlua butter cake, dayap chiffon cake and devil's food cake).

We were satisfied with our meal. The ambiance is warm and relaxing. We were able to catch up over dinner. It was a fun night. We went home happy.

They call it XANADU

A place where nobody dared to go. The love that we came to know. They call it Xanadu... Oh hi there...

A few hours ago, Mira, Shiela, Kayelle and I watched an amazing show entitled Xanadu. Yes it has the same title as that of the 80's movie. But this is a parody.
And yes, it is already a repeat and  it has already been shown earlier this year (last September 3 to 19, 2010). With that being said you can already infer that it is a good show. It wouldn't be a repeat for nothing right?!
It has a power cast! Rachel Alejandro played as Kira/ Clio, Noel Trinidad as Danny Maguire/ Zeus and Felix Rivera as Sonny Malone. The other theater performers who played as Melpomenne, Calliope and the other Greek Muses were fiery in their performances. The singing was flawless, you'd think it is not done live/ recorded. That is how good they were. Plus imagine they also perform with roller skates on. How amazing is that? I especially enjoyed the part where they sung Suddenly . That telephone booth scene - lovely! Kira is just so charming! And Sonny, he is the man! And the super short denim shorts? Coolness! Who says that only Ed Westwick can wear mekmeks, haha. The Evil Woman scene was equally entertaining. (Btw, the songs I posted here are from the Broadway show not the Manila/ Atlantis Production). Personally, I think that the cast of Xanadu Manila  has better voices. Mr. Bobby Garcia has done a great job in directing. The crowd was really entertained.

Finger lights were given before the show to be used by the end of the play. We were told to return it after but actually, I had this feeling that I wanted to keep it as souvenir. Uy ha, I returned it. I am  a strict follower of rules. Defensive much?! Hahaha

the ticket

Xanadu was held and will still be held at the Carlos P. Romulo Auditorium of RCBC Plaza in Makati. The show runs from November 19 to December 3, 2010.

One word to describe the show - theaterrific!

Fashion Solstice

What:   Freeway's Launch of the Ramon Valera Collection
Where:  The Row at Glorietta 5, Makati
When:   October 12, 2010

Freeway launched its fourth installment of the National Artist Series Collection featuring the works of Ramon Valera last October 12. Just so you know, Ramon Valera is the one and only National Artist for Fashion. And Freeway is one of the leading local fashion retail brand here in the Philippines. A fashion solstice it was!

Imagine, original Valera gowns were displayed at the Glorietta 5 lobby just for that day. How cool is that?!

It was such a star-studded event. Madam Imelda Marcos (Valera muse), Tessa Prieto-Valdez (socialite), Tim Yap (eventologist), Aureo Alonzo (fashion designer), Valera's niece, and Valera's illustrator were present during the event. Louis Claparols, other VIPs, press and bloggers were also there.

Of course, my officemates and I were at the evnt too. Yes, we all have to wear black. And we love photo ops...

This will be the last Freeway launch for the year... The next collection will feature the works of (haha, i know but i can't tell yet)...

Birthday Gift

I celebrated my 24th birthday last September 30, as a birthday gift my sister asked me to pick a pair of shoes and she'll pay for it...

When I saw this pair of peep toe booties, I knew I found The One. It's kinda in the middle, not that fierce and not that playful. I like the patent leather being deep green (almost black) with the a touch of white, makes it easier to match with the clothes that I have. I also like the heel height, makes me 5'7" tall when I'm wearing it. To make it short - this pair is LOVE!

Thanks sis! Can't wait to wear them on the Freeway event this October 12.

Hooked on HELLOGOODBYE

It's as if watching them perform live at Greenbelt 3 last night wasn't enough. Waddaya know, today I went to Trinoma to catch Hellogoodbye for the second time. I'm definitely hooked on them. I am actually thinking of going to Market Market! tomorrow to watch them again... but yeah, that may be too much.

Their Trinoma show was cool; their Greenbelt show was bloody awesome! Among all the band members, it's Andy that I really am crushing on. He's such a cutie! He was like switching from guitar to mandolin to ukelele to tambourine during their performance. And Forrest he's just so nerdy, even the way he was banging his head while performing and the manner he high fives with the fans. Their songs are such feel-good songs. I just want to be a nerd right now. Hahaha...

Above are some photos of them during their Trinoma show. Unfortunately, I didn't have a camera with me when we watched them perform at Greenbelt (Mira got some photos in her phone though).

I love their song Here in Your Arms and Baby It's Fact . And that Dear Jamie...Sincerely Me song is just sooo heartfelt. (Try listening to the songs by clicking on the song titles).

Just as I finished uploading their photos in Facebook, I am also done with this blog post.

Goodnight... yawns

Don't You Just Love 'Em Geek/ Nerd Musicians?!

It's a lazy Sunday today. So what to do aside from sleep all day? Listen to songs while reading (intarnetz on the side). In random, songs by Jason Mraz, Example, Weezer, Led Zeppelin and Hellogoodbye was played. Recognize the common denominator of these musicians? Of course, it is clearly expressed in the blog title. Hahaha...

Lemme share my Top 3:

 Jason Mraz
My favorite song of his is A Beautiful Mess

Elliot John Gleave (Example)
I sooo love his song Kickstarts

Forrest Kline (Hellogoodbye)
I've been  listening to Here In Your Arms non-stop tonight

They just have this nerdy appeal no? Their songs are just amazing! (Have you tried clicking on the links above to listen to their songs?) They write good lyrics too. Well they do not sing about games or binary codes like what some hardcore nerd/ geek musicians do. Love, love, love listening to 'em.

By the way, I was told that Hellogoodbye is coming to the Philippines. Isn't that good news?

That's it!

Will sleep now...

Red Lipstick is A-OK!

When you were young have you ever been told that it's not good to put on a red lipstick on a Friday the 13th? I was... but I am not that superstitious and my friends/ officemates are not superstitious people too. So despite August 13, 2010 being a Friday the 13th, we put on red lipstick. Honestly, red lipstick is not a color that we usually wear. Most of the time we go for au naturel.

We then realized that we look good with red lipstick on, so during the break we had this impromptu photoshoot. Someone commented that in reality it should be Kika doing the angas pose and that the goody two-shoes should be me. All four of us thought that below is the best shot we had..
We decided that we should try to project the character of the clothes we were wearing that day. Hence, the pose.

We are so not prepared. As you can see in the background, we didn't even try to organize our "set" . The clutter on the table still there, the boxes present too, good thing the floor is shiny. Hahaha!

Do you see any semblance with the campaign ad below? Syempre wala! Hahaha

Ponds and Plains & Prints Collaboration

Lemme share more photos that we had that morning. The not so fierce and wacky ones.

Also that day, we watched Chloe and went to Cubao X for Manila Design Week.
Good thing Chloe is still showing in Gateway cinemas. To Cinema 8 we went. You know very well about my movie/ concert buddies ayt?! See previous posts. Mira, Shai and I but this time we have Kayelle with us. Yey, the more the merrier! After watching the movie we saw this EasyA poster. And so...

EasyA starring Emma Stone and me? hahaha

After the dinner and movie, Jen came to join us. So now were five! We then went to Cubao Expo for the last day of the Manila Design Week. It's called Manila Sound Vision. Lotsa bands were there to play. The event was sponsored by Manila Beer, so beer was free-flowing. We didn't drink though. We just had soda in can.

starstruck... we were too shy to approach Armi and have photo taken with her... sayang!

Up Dharma Down sounds good. Armi  is <3

CLAU-DIO-OH!

Oh yeah! We were able to catch Coheed and Cambria live in Manila last July 30, 2010 in A.Venue. And yes, I was with Shai and Mira and the "friend". We sure had a blast. The ticket price was soooo worth it (we got our money's worth even better). I am not a huge fan of Coheed and Cambria but after the concert -waddaya know?! I heart them much, moreso Claudio! Claudio and his epic hair!

zeh BAND! Claudio's face cannot be seen here

there ya go, the headband, now his face can be seen

Of course, we didn't miss the chance to have our photos taken. The photowall would be a waste if not used. Hahaha! Speaking of the shirts, we just bought it from vendor in Facebook. It's called Manyan Shirts and we got it for only 350Php each. The print at the shirt front is CoCa's logo with a touch of Filipino (the sun with eight rays). I don't have a photo of the shirt back but it has the dragonfly (album logo) and the band name printed on it. A guy even approached us to ask if it's the official concert shirt. Winner! but no, it's not...

they (CoCa, Pulp, Dickies) haz photowall too

we have matching shirts
Have I mentioned about me wearing my pink wedge shoes to the concert? A very unlikely choice of footwear for a rock concert! Well, the shoes had its pros and cons. For one, it gave me additional 4" in height. I was able to see the stage and the performers even from afar. But before the concert ended I haz to remove the shoes and go barefoot. Coz my legs and feet were already tired. We were like standing almost the whole time during the concert. The concert started 8pm and the show ended 12mn (meaning 4 hours). Imagine all the weight that my feet carries! Plus, I wasn't just standing during the concert, I was jumping too! hahaha...

tired and ugly feet aka the YAGIT photo

me, Mira and her "friend"

Usually, we have dinner after zeh movie or concert. But this time we had our meal before the event. We went to Fluke at A.Venue Mall. While there we saw Mr. Francis, the boyfriend of Nina Sandejas (the well-known concert photographer). We were like waiting for her to arrive at the resto, but we didn't see her.

us three

Have you heard of the band Franco? They were the front act during the concert. Their  music is good!
try listening to this

Pulp was the one who brought Coheed and Cambria to Manila. This November they will bring HATEBREED. I'm not sure if we'll go. We'll see. Anyway ticket price is cheaper, only 1,000Php. It'll be held at World Trade Center in Pasay City.
